It’s time again for the annual Indy Jazz Fest, an event that started in 1999 and grows by leaps and bounds each year. The three-day event offers live music from local, regional and national musicians on several stages in Military Park. Headliners this year include Bonnie Raitt, the Wynton Marsalis Septet and The Neville Brothers. New this year is a special New Orleans day on June 18, featuring all New Orleans musicians, to raise money for the Habitat for Humanity musicians’ village being built in the city’s Upper Ninth Ward. If you need a break from the music, head over to the plethora of food and drink vendors from local restaurants like Uncle Artie’s and Oriental Cookery. There are many other things to do besides eat and listen to music. The festival features kids activities, health screenings and a selection of local artwork.
