Galerie Penumbra presents new artwork by alternative music legend and artist Jad Fair on June 1-28. Fair makes visual artwork with the same raw energy that he puts in his music. Using many of the same themes that made him an icon of the indpendent music scene in the early to mid 1980s, Jad Fair’s images reflect his preoccupation with good versus evil, monsters, and love. Fair’s brand of primitivism is refined and elegant; still, his artwork is simple and straightforward, with and immediacy leaning toward the primal urges of cave drawings. Jad Fair will be at Penumbra for the June First Friday exhibit opening from 5pm-9pm, then he will perform at Radio Radio.
